GCSE Results 2025: A Year of Exceptional Achievement
This year’s results are superb and a true testament to the resilience, determination, and hard work of our students, especially given the challenges they have faced.
Students at UWS have sustained the outstanding progress demonstrated in 2024, achieving an excellent Progress 8 score of +0.60. This reflects not only their dedication but also the strength of teaching and support throughout the school.
We are incredibly proud that, as a result of this success, all of our students have progressed to their chosen destinations—whether further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
In 2025:
  • 83% of all GCSE grades awarded were at Grade 4 or higher (standard pass), compared to 70% nationally.
  • 60% of grades were at Grade 5 or higher (good pass), outperforming the national average of 55%.
Subject Highlights:
  • In English90% students achieved Grade 4 or above, compared to 71% nationally, and 68% achieved Grade 5 or above, exceeding the national figure of 54%.
  • In Mathematics88% achieved Grade 4 or above (vs 72% nationally), and 71% achieved Grade 5 or above, compared to the national average of 53%.
  • 82% of students secured a standard pass (Grade 4+) in both English and Maths, and 62% achieved a good pass (Grade 5+) in both subjects.
  • 76% of students achieved five or more GCSE passes, including English and Maths.
On average, each UWS student performed over half a grade above their target across a range of subject, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their effort and perseverance over the last five years.
