Upper Wharfedale School is an outstanding rural high school located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, offering a unique opportunity to work in an exceptional educational and natural environment. Situated just ten minutes from the centre of Skipton, the school is surrounded by the stunning landscape of Upper Wharfedale. Regular public transport serves the area, enabling staff and students to travel easily from surrounding towns and villages. Exams Invigilators

Casual and flexible hours during exam periods

Required during main exam periods: end November/beginning of December, May to the end of June

Hours: varied according to the exams timetable and your availability

Grade: C (£12.85 per hour)

Deadline: Friday 25 September 2026 for applications to start the November/December 2026 exam series. Applications will, however, be accepted at any time during the school year.

Required for the Winter 2026 Mock Exams Series, enthusiastic individuals to join the invigilation team at our popular, oversubscribed school in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

You will assist the Exams and Data Manager in ensuring the fair and proper conduct of examinations and tests according to the school’s and exam board rules, in an environment that enables students to perform at their best.

Full training will be provided and the successful candidate will be supported as they become familiar with exam regulations and procedures.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Honest, trustworthy and reliable.
  • Calm, responsible and methodical in order to help supervise our examinations, internal assessments and mock exams.
  • Organised, self-confident and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to multitask.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Be committed to inclusively supporting young people in their examinations and assessments with the aim of running exams smoothly.
  • Be available at the end of November/start of December and during May/June each year.

Owing to the common exam timetable used by the exam boards across the UK, this post is not suitable for individuals currently employed as an exams invigilator at another centre.

Upper Wharfedale School works with Communihire who manage our facilities outside of school hours, allowing local groups to make use of our fantastic building and equipment. Please find below any vacancies they are currently offering.

Communihire is a third party organisation and therefore the vacancy below falls outside of our recruitment policy and procedures. However, full DBS clearance is mandatory for all people working within the school.

We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and reliable people to join our team!

Communihire are the lettings manager for all facility hire at Upper Wharfedale School and South Craven School. We are looking for Lettings Site Staff to work onsite at Upper Wharfedale School on both evenings and weekends from September. This would be part time with some cover shifts when required and done on a rota basis.

Outline of the Role

You will be responsible for overseeing external facility hire at UWS. You will be required to help set up for respective users (swim schools, badminton, football clubs, community groups etc), welcome them and their customers and help them with any queries or questions they may have.

UWS is a school site and therefore, it is paramount that one of the main responsibilities of this role is to ensure all facilities are respected as such and left clean and tidy ready for use as a school. You will also be responsible for opening and locking up the facilities in use.
