We are delighted to announce that the Geography department have been awarded the Centre of Excellence status in Geography for the second time. Upper Wharfedale School is one of only nine schools in the world to be awarded with this coveted status.
The schools awarded Centre of Excellence Status are pivotal to the Geography Association’s aspiration to spread good practice through the development of local networks of teachers. This award recognises a school’s contribution to disseminating quality practices in the teaching of geography, global learning and fieldwork.
Mr Jackson, the Subject Leader for Geography at Upper Wharfedale School is very enthusiastic about his subject and supports other schools in improving and developing teaching and learning in geography. He said, “I am extremely proud to have been awarded this status for the second time. It is difficult to achieve and demonstrates the commitment and hard work from staff and students at Upper Wharfedale School.”
